Research Project Call - FIS020 - Feasibility study on an industry self-sampling programme for the pelagic sector

Making best use of data collected by the fishing industry is more important now than ever – both research institutes and state-funded research efforts are enduring reduced funds and capacity, whilst the need for more biological data, improved stock-assessments and real-time fisheries management is growing. High resolution (haul level) data collected at sea and on-shore by the fishing industry has the possibility to enhance the quality of catch and biological data required for assessment and also to improve the knowledge necessary to understand changes in stock abundance and distribution.

Anticipated Duration: 4 months

Indicative budget: £25,000

Proposed date of commencement: November 2017
